Good quality clothes are the kind that will last a long time – they won't lose their shape after the first wash (provided you wash them according to the label instructions) and they won't pill after a few wears. Learn how to recognize truly good basics!

Premium basics – clothes that will last for years

The reason the ANSIN brand was created was to create premium basic clothing – timeless, trend-resistant styles that will never go out of style and will stay in your wardrobe for a long time. When you buy our clothing, you can be sure you're buying high-quality basics . You're probably wondering, as with other brands – how can you tell if a dress or pair of trousers is truly high-quality? If a high price immediately comes to mind, remember that expensive doesn't always mean good quality . Some brands position themselves as premium yet produce mediocre clothing with poor fabrication. Below, we dispel other myths about high-quality clothing and suggest what to look for when shopping.

How to determine the quality of clothes? Polish brands and quality

Polish clothing has been experiencing a veritable renaissance in recent years. Domestic fashion brands are springing up like mushrooms after the rain, ensuring they offer high-quality Polish clothing. Unfortunately, local production doesn't always guarantee high quality. There are both better and worse sewing shops everywhere, including in Poland. Clothes can be sewn to both a reputable workshop and a place that stands out for its low price. This usually translates into poor quality of the final product and poor working conditions for the sewing workers. It's worth remembering that Polish clothing doesn't always mean high-quality clothing. There's something more behind the "made in Poland" label.

How to tell if clothes are of high quality?

Basic clothes made of certified materials

One of the determinants of whether we can call clothes of good quality is the material. Contrary to popular belief, this doesn't automatically mean that just because something is made of cotton, viscose, or linen, it's of good quality. With cotton, the weight is key. The lower the weight, the thinner and more translucent the material, making it more susceptible to stretching and tearing. When shopping in stores, you can also feel a lot by touch. Viscose can be thick and silky smooth, or thin and slightly rough. After reading the fabric label, touch the garment and make sure it's thick enough and comfortable to the touch. For knitwear, also check if the garment has pilled on the hanger in the store – yes, such "flowers" do happen!

DID YOU KNOW THAT… At ANSIN, all materials are OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified . This means our basic women's and men's clothing is safe for your skin.

Buying basic clothing? Check how it's made.

High-quality material is essential, but good quality clothing is characterized by something else – careful cut and sewing. Have you ever tried on two jackets in the same size, but each fit you differently? Or perhaps the sleeve lengths of the same shirt were different? Before you remove the tags, try it on and make sure it fits you well. If you're in a brick-and-mortar store, you can take two of the same item to the fitting room – it's possible that one item will look better on you than the other. Also pay attention to the quality of the cut and seams – turn the garment inside out and stretch it gently. If you notice tiny holes in the seams, it's a sign that the item is definitely not high-quality. Also, check the stitching – the tighter the stitching, the better! A sparse stitching will also indicate poor workmanship. In the case of fitted styles, e.g. skirts, sit on a chair - if you hear a creaking sound while moving, it is a sign that the item may sooner or later come apart at the seam due to too little space left for the thighs to spread when sitting down.

The devil is in the details

Are the seams straight and the cut consistent? Time for the final test: checking the condition of the tailoring and other details. In high-quality garments, threads won't come loose from the seams, and buttons will be securely sewn and free of loose threads. Be sure to also check the zippers, specifically whether they close and open smoothly. As with the previous point, one item of the same garment may have a jammed zipper, while another doesn't. In the case of a so-called "quick-fastener," pay attention to the way it was sewn. Fabric wavy at the seam and a bulging zipper indicate poor workmanship.

ANSIN'S ADVICE: Did you inadvertently buy an item that, after a few uses, becomes unusable? Remember, you have 24 months from the date of purchase to exercise your right to file a complaint.

How to tell if clothes are of high quality?

Nothing is forever

Remember that even buying items from high-quality Polish basic brands doesn't mean they'll never wear out. Everyday clothes are subject to regular wear and tear, and items like tops and T-shirts are often washed. Also, keep in mind the care instructions for each item – this applies especially to delicate materials like silk, but also wool. If you take care of your high-quality clothes, they will certainly last much longer than those made carelessly and from low-quality materials. Used clothing is also a good indicator of quality. If you see that an item you found secondhand looks great, even though it's not new, it's a sign that it may be with you for a while!
