Organizing your wardrobe is the foundation of a well-developed style. If we want to continue developing it, it's crucial to constantly monitor not only your shopping choices but also your wardrobe. Systematically reviewing and sorting your clothes into those that still fit you perfectly and those that should definitely be used by someone else can definitely help. The question then arises: " What do I do with the clothes I no longer wear ?" In this article, we'll try to give you some ideas on what to do with your old clothes !

Where to donate old clothes?

When we start decluttering, we usually first think of items that are still in good condition and could still last a long time. We examine them several times, try to fit them into a new style, and most often fail. Why? Because at this point, we often abandon building our dream wardrobe in favor of clothes whose only advantage is that they're in good condition. We forget that there are many opportunities to give them a second life!

We can pass our clothes on to someone close to us – perhaps our sister, cousin, or mother is a similar size and has already noticed our clothes several times. They might be willing to take over styles we no longer find to suit our style.

However, if we don't have a loved one willing to pick up a few clothes, we can donate them to those in need. Simply find an organization that recycles and recycles our clothes. A great example is the clothing brand Odzieżdooddania, which aims to revolutionize the clothing market in Poland . They operate in four areas: collecting clothes and converting them into financial donations to support non-governmental organizations, sorting and refreshing clothes to make them suitable for resale, building value in recycle by creating Circular Boutiques, and educating people about how recycle can be more responsible and circular.

How to use old clothes?

But what if we want to use the clothes we've bought in the past to our advantage? In that case, marketplaces that allow us to sell products can be helpful. Vinted and Less are definitely among the most popular platforms. On both platforms, we can post an ad, where we can describe the product in detail, add photos, and categorize it. This way, we can reach people interested in a given type of clothing. This gives us the opportunity to sell faster and, consequently, build funds for new items that will better suit our style.

At ANSIN, we also strive to give clothes a second chance. Inspired by various campaigns in which brands willingly offer for sale products used in photo shoots or with minimal defects, we created the ANSIN OUTLET. Thanks to this event, we've already managed to give life to around 100 products!

What to do with old clothes?

But what if the clothes we want to get rid of are so damaged that they're no longer suitable for recycling? There's a solution for that too!

Here, too, we can look for organizations, for example, that ethically dispose of worn-out clothing. One such place is the Polish Red Cross, which provides special containers into which we can dispose of our unwanted clothes. After sorting them, a decision is made about where the product will be sent next. The most damaged and unsuitable for reuse are recycled in specialized facilities and turned into industrial cleaning cloths, sealing materials, or even alternative fuel.

What else can you make from old clothes? The possibilities are endless – the only limit is your imagination. Cotton T-shirts can be cut into smaller pieces, which opens up several possibilities. Some people use them as cloths, as they're great for dusting. And if you can sew or know someone who can, you can create grocery bags to use when shopping instead of plastic bags. Some fabrics can also be used to make a shoulder bag – a great alternative to plastic shopping bags.

Such changes can help us avoid opening our wardrobe in the morning and starting to look for an outfit thinking, " I have nothing to wear ."
