Are sustainable clothing brands the answer to fast fashion?
Constantly emerging new trends, growing consumerism, shopaholism, and the simultaneous profit-seeking of clothing manufacturers. All of this characterizes one of the most controversial segments of contemporary fashion: fast fashion , a term on the lips of everyone even remotely interested in fashion and trends. Worker exploitation, a lack of knowledge about the real costs of clothing production, combined with excessive use of natural resources and the increasing tons of clothing dumping in landfills, inevitably lead to a global catastrophe. For years, the fashion industry has held a shameful place among the industries most damaging to our planet. So how should we approach the problem of fast fashion globally? Will sustainable fashion and Polish slow fashion brands like ANSIN become a remedy for the increasingly widespread effects of excessive consumerism in the modern world? And what exactly is slow fashion?

The origin of the problem of contemporary fashion, i.e. we buy NOT responsibly
It would seem that freely available fashion could not become the curse of the modern world. Unfortunately, the emergence of popular online clothing stores not only disrupted the natural cycle of collections previously presented twice a year by designers and fashion houses. Fast fashion led clothing manufacturers to introduce more and more products to customers eager for new products. The spiral of consumerism intensified. At one point, new clothes were appearing in stores as often as once a week, a ridiculous 52 collections a year 😱. Of course, this situation also entails increased clothing production, and consequently, greater environmental degradation, such as the consumption of water, energy, and raw materials that the earth cannot continuously produce. But that's not all. Constantly changing trends and the desire to buy new things also cause customers to discard old clothes. As a result, tons of clothes end up in landfills, not to mention the growing amount of waste from industrial clothing production.
Modern slavery
The exploitation of poor people and immigrants in grueling, inhumane factory conditions for inhumane wages is a grim reality in countries like Bangladesh, Uzbekistan, India, and until recently, China. Unfortunately, most people are unaware of the true cost of products that reach store shelves. Most chain store customers, buying a T-shirt for a few złoty, don't even consider the wages of the sewing workers who sewed it, the cost of sourcing cotton, and the environmental toll. Before a finished garment reaches stores, it undergoes a long process of production. Starting with the production of raw materials that overexploit our planet, through the exploitation of workers, and finally, the final product, for which we often pay too little. Price externalization occurs daily, yet the consequences of this practice affect not only the poorest countries but also the entire world.

Slow fashion - what is it?
Fast fashion, as we can see, has far more downsides than upsides, prompting reflection and a broader questioning of whether this is truly the right direction for humanity to pursue. Thus, the idea of slow fashion , or more responsible fashion, was born. Fast fashion and its associated consequences have become a trigger for numerous initiatives to counteract the negative impact of fast fashion on the environment. Furthermore, growing consumer awareness is motivating the creation of a new generation of clothing brands that aim to produce fewer garments from environmentally friendly raw materials and rely on local subcontractors in accordance with fair trade principles.
Minimalism, basics and quality
The foundation of every wardrobe is basic clothing, especially T-shirts, tops, and blouses. If they're not of good quality, they wear out much faster than we'd like. Therefore, if you don't want to promote consumerism, shop responsibly and choose brands that take responsibility for their actions. Slow fashion has the potential to become a cure for mindless shopping. However, it takes time and ongoing efforts to make customers aware that the higher price of clothing is due to many important factors. For example, check out our high-quality women's T-shirts , compare the ingredients, and see the difference.
Salvation against consumerism?
When introducing the concept of sustainable fashion, it's important to emphasize that it's a manifesto against consumerism. The desire for change is leading to the emergence of a new generation of brands. Polish slow fashion brands, creating responsibly, also promote respect for human labor and nature. In this respect, we can be proud – a growing number of responsible Polish clothing companies are emerging. Unlike chain stores, slow fashion focuses on high quality and timeless design. Basic clothing, in particular, should be of the highest quality, as we wear it most often. Customers therefore receive clothes that, with proper care, will last in excellent condition for many years and remain fashionable.
Responsible fashion - choose wisely!
Polish slow fashion brands are a conscious choice if we also want to support the domestic clothing industry . For several years, Polish clothing brands have proven that they can provide their customers with excellent quality and unique style at a reasonable price. Buying used clothing is also a good option. Giving clothes a second life is a very positive trend that is constantly growing. We hope that the demand for new clothes will not diminish but will instead take a more responsible direction. Therefore, the slogan "buy responsibly" is not just a trendy slogan, but a part of a more conscious lifestyle. We undoubtedly want to be part of these changes.
Polish clothing brand - Ansin 💛
One of the Polish clothing brands operating in the slow fashion segment is our brand Ansin , which offers only basic clothing made from carefully selected and selected materials of the highest quality. One of the main reasons for creating the sustainable clothing brand Ansin was the real need for basic clothing that not only satisfies a need but also guarantees high quality. Therefore, another significant reason was the lack of quality in mainstream fashion, chain stores, malls, and online stores. Ansin is our manifesto against the existing order, which is destroying the entire ecosystem. At the same time, we don't follow trends, but reinterpret timeless classics. Moreover, our belief in simplicity and minimalism makes Ansin basic clothing an excellent style foundation for anyone who appreciates timeless clothing. The Ansin brand operates in the spirit of slow fashion , as evidenced by, among other things, extensive product testing to best meet not only our expectations, but above all, the brand's customers. In addition, we commission domestic sewing factories to produce Ansin clothing, thus supporting the domestic clothing market and making Polish clothing even more popular internationally.
Recommended Polish slow fashion clothing brands
Finally, we have something you'll probably enjoy: other Polish brands in the slow fashion segment worth knowing. We've tried to choose products we've personally tried and tested, and we can certainly recommend their quality. First and foremost, we'd like to recommend Polish clothing companies that sew from natural materials, such as GAZELA and PULPA. Our latest discovery is Joy in me, which captivated us with its quality and use of innovative fibers in its sportswear. Minimalist Polish brands that create timeless and incredibly versatile designs are also interesting choices, such as HIBOU and Kornelia Rataj. Remember that supporting Polish clothing brands is worth it not only for their beautiful design and craftsmanship, but above all, to support our local businesses, which, thanks to our purchases, can operate successfully in the market. When making every purchase, we recommend focusing primarily on your needs and giving yourself time to consider your purchase. This way, your new item will last a long time in your wardrobe, and you can say goodbye to poor choices.
Time for a change!
Excessive consumerism among consumers, coupled with an even greater profit motive among clothing manufacturers, has led to a situation where we need to stop. We need to pause for a moment and take a hard look at the consequences of fast fashion: the exploitation of the poorest countries, the utter depletion of our planet's natural resources, and the alarming amount of clothing thrown away. Let's hope that growing awareness of the damage we cause by constantly buying low-quality clothing will lead us towards slow fashion. Fashion that cares for the environment and decent working conditions for garment workers. Therefore, support Polish clothing brands that offer not only high-quality products but also a vision of better, more responsible fashion.
