Carnival season is in full swing! Costume parties are especially popular this time of year. One of the most popular ideas is an '80s-themed party. What should you wear? We're taking a look back at '80s style and offering tips on how to effortlessly put together an '80s-inspired outfit.
Carnival costume – 1980s
Let's start by describing what was fashionable 40 years ago. The 1980s were, above all, full of color! Purples, greens, pinks, blues, silver, and gold were hues very characteristic of the era. Women's wardrobes at the time were dominated by jackets with shoulder pads (very fashionable in recent seasons), abstract patterns, shimmering fabrics, and high heels. For men, denim jackets and rather loose, straight-cut trousers were the dominant styles. The King of Pop, Michael Jackson, launched the trend of white socks, which are rarely worn today. Before you start putting together an outfit for an '80s-themed party , decide on one of the three most popular fashion trends: disco, rock, or fitness.
How to dress for the 80s?
Disco style
"Flashdance" is the title of a popular 1980s film about a girl who wants to get into ballet school. This production can be a treasure trove of inspiration if you're opting for an '80s disco look . Silver leggings, a sequined dress, or perhaps a tulle skirt? Whichever one appeals to you most, any of these will work perfectly! If you choose a skirt, our Miss Glam top will work perfectly as a top ! Asymmetry is also a characteristic '80s trend! The turquoise Miss Romantic bodysuit with a plunging neckline is also a great choice. Paired with plenty of jewelry and a chain bag, it will look like something straight out of the penultimate decade of the 20th century!
Rock style
80s Party - How to Dress? If rock is more your thing than disco, opt for a look with that exact vibe! Although we associate the 80s primarily with disco, songs by Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, Scorpions, and Guns 'n' Roses were blasting from the speakers during this period. Punk bands like Siekiera and Armia were gaining popularity in Poland. If you want to rock, opt for leather, which is still fashionable today. Leather trousers or ripped jeans, Doc Martens boots, and a biker jacket are a cult ensemble that will evoke memories of the Jarocin Festival. You can add a touch of sex appeal to the whole look – leopard print and sheer, lacey lingerie.

Fitness style
A strong trend, perhaps most often associated with the '80s, was fitness. A bodysuit over leggings, loose, slightly thicker sports socks, hair pulled back in a ponytail, and a headband—looking like you just finished working out with Jane Fonda—is sure to be a hit as an '80s outfit ! The advantage of a fitness-themed outfit is that it can be composed largely of items you already have in your wardrobe. Perhaps one of those items is our Miss Minimal bodysuit ? If not, this might be a good opportunity to see how versatile this wardrobe piece is!

80s Outfit and Makeup
When putting together an 80s party outfit, don't forget about the right accessories . Shoes and jewelry are often an equally important part of the outfit. If you have colorful stilettos in your wardrobe, they will perfectly complement your party look. If you're going for a fitness-inspired look, classic white sneakers will come in handy. Jewelry should be chunky and as colorful as possible. Plastic beads, gold chains, and large earrings will add character. And what about makeup? Blue eyeshadow, metallic lipsticks, and a very bold blush were undisputed hits of the era. To visually thicken your lash line, you can also apply black eyeliner. As for hairstyle, it should be voluminous. Backcomb your hair and set it with hairspray. You can also add colorful hair clips, a velvet headband, or a scrunchie. The more different colors and patterns, the better!
