Did you realize that every second, a truckload of clothes ends up in landfills? It's hard to imagine, but unfortunately, the tons of clothes languishing in landfills aren't the fashion industry's only environmental problem. The industry is responsible for enormous amounts of greenhouse gases and consumes unimaginable amounts of water to produce clothing. For example, it's estimated that producing a single cotton T-shirt consumes a staggering 2,500 liters of water. These figures are staggering, so today we'll explore the better side of the industry: sustainable fashion, a topic we hold dear.

What is sustainable fashion?

Sustainable fashion is essentially the opposite of fast fashion, encompassing all environmentally friendly efforts in the fashion industry. Sustainable fashion production is based on quality and timelessness, ensuring long-lasting enjoyment. Unlike fast fashion, it doesn't produce multiple collections throughout the year and isn't based on short-term trends. Furthermore, the clothes are made with respect for human and animal rights, as well as for the planet.

In sustainable fashion, an important aspect is not only the production process itself, but also the materials from which we produce our clothes and whether we "own" the consequences of this production. We've been hearing about illegal clothing landfills and clothing burning by larger chains for a long time. One thing is certain: this isn't a solution, but something we should categorically combat. At ANSIN, we're aware of the harmful effects of the clothing industry, so to contribute to positive change towards conscious fashion, we've decided to donate 1% of our gross revenue to the Las Na Szybko foundation . In addition, we prioritize the quality of our materials, which we always select for our products with great care and after extensive field testing. We strive to create items that will last our customers for a long time, while also being gentle on their skin and providing everyday comfort. In our opinion, the most sustainable clothes are those that bring joy and are worn constantly. The timeless spirit of our basic designs ensures that a piece won't go out of style after a single season. Rather, its classic character ensures that it will continue to serve us well regardless of current trends, whether short or long-lasting.

Sustainable fashion - how to introduce it into your wardrobe?

Let's remember that the sustainable fashion movement is gaining momentum thanks to both sides – producers and each of us, the consumers. Sometimes we don't realize that seemingly small steps make a difference. If you want to be a more responsible consumer, we've prepared some simple and short tips on how to do it, step by step:

  • Before every purchase, consider whether you really need the item. Perhaps you already have a similar dress in your wardrobe but have forgotten about it?
  • If you're buying a new item for your wardrobe, try to choose conscious and responsible brands. Read their reviews, familiarize yourself with their websites, and check their production transparency.
  • Choose natural materials and try to avoid synthetic ones, which are the most harmful to our environment, but also to our skin.
  • Take proper care of your clothes - this way you will extend their useful life.
  • If the garment can be repaired, try to do so. Don't give up right away—sometimes a simple shave is all it takes to make a bunched-up sweater look new.
  • Search in the underground circulation!
  • If you no longer want to wear something, but it's in good condition, be sure to give it a new lease on life. We've written an article here with all the advice you need to get rid of used clothes, including where to sell them you no longer wear .
